Position Description

UVM Watershed Alliance Program – This position will assist with developing, planning and delivering UVM Watershed Alliance educational programs primarily to middle and high school students in the Lake Champlain Basin. The Program Assistant will coordinate and scheduleUVM Watershed Alliance programming with Lake Champlain Basin schools and non-formal education programs. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Watershed and Lake Education Coordinator to implement and evaluate the Watershed Alliance program’s strategic plan and to train Watershed Educators (undergraduate interns). Components of the job require walking and standing on uneven ground in streams, along banks, and in lakes and wetlands. There will be occasional evening and weekend work. The job also involves occasionally working with hazardous chemical kits, and lifting 10 – 20lbs.

Lake Champlain Sea Grant – This position will also support Lake Champlain Sea Grant program staff on grant projects and program-wide initiatives. For example, the Program Assistant may draft fact sheets and press releases, enter data, assist with field sampling, and/or communicate news through social media. Occasional evening and weekend work is likely.
