Research Seminar: Environmental Health Disparities in Vermont

Bindu Panikkar, Assistant Professor, Rubenstein School of the Environment and Natural Resources, UVM, gave a talk about her research examining environmental justice issues in Vermont on January 27, 2021. Her work has resulted in the formation of a coalition called Rural Environmental Justice Opportunities Informed by Community Expertise (REJOICE). As part of this work, they have been doing extensive community outreach and research by conducting surveys, interviews, and Vermont-wide listening sessions to inform policy, which the group hopes to present at the upcoming legislative session under the leadership of Kesha Ram.

The project is funded by Lintilhac Foundation, Jeffords Fund, Gund Institute of the Environment, Vermont Department of Health, High Meadows Fund and the Vermont Community Foundation.

This seminar is part of the Lake Champlain Sea Grant Seminar Series.
