Walk With Ease

University of Vermont is partnering with the Vermont Department of Health to offer an enhanced version of the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease Program.

Walk With Ease

Walking offers all the benefits of exercise—from improved fitness and energy to enhanced well-being. The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Self-Directed Program is a physical activity and self-management education program that can help reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis, increase balance, strength, and walking pace, build confidence, and improve overall health.

While walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multi-component program that also includes health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies. The program includes a guidebook and a walking schedule to get you safely moving toward better health.

Through UVM's Walk with Ease Enhanced Program, healthcare provider students are paired with participants in the fall and spring semesters and guide them via weekly calls and emails.

FREE and open to anyone, regardless of age and physical abilities, who can be on their feet for 10 minutes without increased pain.

Build Your Confidence, Grow Your Strength

“When I started the program, I was afraid to walk very far because of my knee pain. But Walk with Ease helped me start slow and build up gradually. Now I am confident in my ability to walk easily without making my arthritis worse.”
