Dear residents, As you heard from President Garimella, the University will be transitioning to remote instruction for the remainder of the semester. In light of this decision and the existing trends of COVID-19 cases in Vermont and in our local community, the President has decided that the responsible course of action is to ask our students to leave campus.
We understand that not all students will have a place to return to and as a result we will continue to offer emergency housing. Emergency Housing will be approved on a case-by-case basis for international students unable to travel back to their home country and/or students who have no other alternatives. Students who need emergency housing must complete the Emergency Housing Request COVID-19 form located in your myHousing portal by March 27 at 12:00 p.m. Emergency housing requests will be reviewed by Residential Life staff and you will be notified whether your request was approved or not approved.
A few important points to consider before you fill out the Emergency Housing Request COVID-19 form:
You will not be able to resubmit the form once it is submitted.
Decisions regarding on-campus requests will not be open for an appeal process.
Students who file their emergency housing request after the March 27 deadline will not be eligible to stay on campus, regardless of the circumstance.
Students approved for emergency housing may be instructed to transition into a new room if deemed necessary by Residential Life.
- Students approved for emergency housing will not be eligible for the approved $1,000 housing credit.
