I write with an important update during this fast-changing time.  On March 16, I notified the campus that we were expanding the scope of allowable telecommuting.  Later that same day, I sent to supervisors new, more flexible guidelines regarding temporary telework arrangements (copy attached).  The guidelines continue to apply, but as the situation in the state continues to evolve, so does the intensity of our encouragement to facilitate telework for any employee for whom telework is feasible.

All employees who are able to telework should consult with their supervisor, complete a telework form, and begin telework arrangements immediately.  This will help protect all of our employees, including those whose jobs require them to be on campus.  Supervisors should be flexible and creative.  If there is work that can be shifted from one individual to another whose job normally is not conducive to telework, please do that. Similarly, if there are projects, professional development, trainings, etc., that have been on hold given the press of other business, please resurface those and assign them to employees with capacity to work on them.  That way, together, we can do our best to keep as many employees as possible to be fully engaged.
