UVM Internet Calendars

UVM has several calendars that you can add, subscribe to, or download and import into your personal UVM calendar. This guide details the different methods, alongside links to the commonly requested calendars.

Resource Calendar WebCal Subscription iCal/ics Files
Administrative Closures UVM Administrative Closures UVM Admin Closures UVM Administrative Closures (.ics)
Academic Calendar Not Currently Available UVM Academic Calendar UVM Academic Calendar (.ics)

Resource Calendar: A dedicated exchange calendar that is dynamically updated. Recommended when possible.
WebCal Subscription: A dynamically updated calendar that you can subscribe and view as a standalone calendar in Outlook, available to external users and accounts.
iCal/ics File: A downloadable, static file that can be imported into an existing calendar, and must be reimported yearly to get the new year’s events.

Note:

The downloadable .ics files only contain new events to cut down on duplicated events.

Adding a Calendar from the Directory

This option is currently only available for the UVM Administrative Closures calendar.

Outlook for Windows

  1. In Outlook Calendar, click Open Calendar and select the Open Shared Calendar dropdown.
  2. Search for and select the UVM Administrative closures calendar, then click OK.

Outlook for Mac

  1. In Outlook Calendar, select Open Shared Calendar from the ribbon.
  2. Search for and select the UVM Administrative Closures calendar, then click Open.

Resource Calendar in From: Field

Due to a necessary configuration of the Resource Calendar, it may appear in the From: field in Outlook. You will be unable to send email as this account, and can safely disregard the address.

Outlook for the Web (OWA)

  1. Click the Add calendar option on the calendar view’s menu bar, and select From Directory.
  2. Enter UVM Administrative Closures into the From Directory field, then click on the UVM Administrative Closures calendar.
  3. Click Open.

Adding an Internet Calendar as a subscription

As a subscription, these calendars will update automatically when changes are made to UVM’s academic calendar. This method will not appear on your calendar when someone tries to book a meeting with you.

Outlook for Windows

There are two options for adding a subscription based internet calendar to Outlook for Windows.

Add from the web:

  1. Click the link for the Internet Calendar you want to subscribe to from the section above.
  2. You may be prompted to choose a program to open the link. Select Outlook.

Add from within Outlook:

  1. Copy the address of the link to the Internet calendar you wish to subscribe to (not the .ics download link), using the right-click function of your browser. The links are in the top section of this article.
  2. In Outlook, click File.
  3. Click Account Settings.
  4. Click the Internet Calendars tab, then click New
  5. Paste the address of the Internet calendar.

Internet Calendar subscriptions can be managed in the Account Settings Window. Internet Calendar subscriptions are checked periodically for updates.

Outlook for Mac

You cannot add internet calendar subscriptions from within the user interface of Outlook for Mac, due to limitations of the software. Follow the instructions below using Outlook for the Web to add your Internet Calendar subscription. The subscribed calendar will then appear in Outlook for Mac.

Outlook for the Web (OWA)

  1. Copy the address of the Internet calendar link above (not the .ics download link), using the right-click or press-and-hold function of your browser.
  2. Click the Add Calendar option on the calendar view’s menu bar, and select From Internet
  3. Paste the address of the Internet calendar in the Link to the calendar field. Add a name and click the Save button.
  4. The Internet calendar should appear in the left side of the window under Other calendars.
