Adding and Importing Campus Calendars

UVM has several calendars that you can add, subscribe to, or download and import into your personal UVM calendar. This guide details the different methods alongside links to the commonly requested calendars.

WebCal Subscription Links Have Changed

The calendars below were migrated to Exchange Online on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023. If you subscribed to any of these calendars before that date using a WebCal link, you must remove and re-add the link, as the addresses for these calendars have changed.

No action is needed if you added the calendar to Outlook from the directory.

Resource Calendar: A dedicated exchange calendar that is dynamically updated. Recommended when possible.
WebCal Subscription: A dynamically updated calendar that you can subscribe and view as a standalone calendar in Outlook, available to external users and accounts.

Adding a Calendar from the Directory

Recommended

This is the most straightforward to add a calendar, and calendars added this way are dynamically updated.

Outlook for Windows

  1. In Outlook Calendar, click Open Calendar and select the Open Shared Calendar dropdown.

  2. Search for and select the UVM Administrative closures OR UVM Academic Calendar calendars, then click OK.

  3. Click the checkbox next to the newly added calendar in the left sidebar to view it.

Outlook for Mac

  1. In Outlook Calendar, select Open Shared Calendar from the ribbon.

  2. Search for and select the UVM Academic Calendar OR UVM Administrative Closures calendars, then click Open.Outlook for Mac Open Calendar search.
  3. You should now see the calendar in your left

Resource Calendar in From: Field

Due to a necessary configuration of the Resource Calendar, it may appear in the From: field in Outlook. You will be unable to send email as this account, and can safely disregard the address.

Outlook on the Web

  1. Log in to Outlook on the Web at mail.uvm.edu and switch to the Calendar view.
  2. Make sure the calendars pane is open to the left of the event view; if it’s not, toggle it with the ≡ button.Diagram indicating how to toggle open the calendars pane
  3. Click the Add calendar button above your list of calendars in the calendars pane.Diagram indicating the "Add calendar" button
  4. Click the Add from directory button, then select your own account from the dropdown.Diagram indicating the "Add from directory" button
  5. Enter the name of the calendar (e.g. UVM Administrative Closures, UVM Academic Calendar, or UVM Interfaith Calendar), click the listed result, and then click Add.Diagram indicating how to search for and add a UVM calendar to EXO
  6. A success message should show at the bottom of the Add calendar pane, which can now be closed. Adding an Internet Calendar as a subscription

As a subscription, these calendars will update automatically when changes are made to UVM’s academic calendar. This method will not appear on your calendar when someone tries to book a meeting with you. 

Outlook for Windows

There are two options for adding a subscription based internet calendar to Outlook for Windows.

Add from the web:

  1. Click the link for the Internet Calendar you want to subscribe to from the section above.
  2. You may be prompted to choose a program to open the link. Select Outlook.Windows 10 Open with menu.

Add from within Outlook:

  1. Copy the address of the link to the Internet calendar you wish to subscribe to (not the .ics download link), using the right-click function of your browser. The links are in the top section of this article.
  2. In Outlook, click File.Outlook for Windows File tab.
  3. Click Account Settings.Outlook for Windows Account Settings button.
  4. Click the Internet Calendars tab, then click NewOutlook for Windows Internet Calendar settings.
  5. Paste the address of the Internet calendar.  Outlook Windows enter Internet Calendar location.

Internet Calendar subscriptions can be managed in the Account Settings Window. Internet Calendar subscriptions are checked periodically for updates.

Outlook for Mac

You cannot add internet calendar subscriptions from within the user interface of Outlook for Mac, due to limitations of the software. Follow the instructions below using Outlook on the Web to add your Internet Calendar subscription. The subscribed calendar will then appear in Outlook for Mac.

Outlook on the Web

  1. Log in to Outlook on the Web at mail.uvm.edu and switch to the Calendar view.
  2. Make sure the calendars pane is open to the left of the event view; if it’s not, toggle it with the ≡ button.Diagram indicating how to toggle open the calendars pane

  6. A success message should show at the bottom of the Add calendar pane, which can now be closed.
