Before your first day
Please complete the following tasks prior to attending your orientation session.
- Print out your first day parking permit
- Set up your UVM NetID
- Install and activate the DUO Security app on your mobile device
- Review the benefits information in your Welcome Letter

If you're exploring housing options, Catamount Run Apartments offer a unique, exclusive housing opportunity for UVM faculty and staff. Developed in partnership with the university, this brand-new community is ideally located in the heart of South Burlington’s City Center, just one mile from campus. Residents enjoy modern studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, along with convenient access to dining, shopping, and everyday essentials. UVM employees also receive complimentary public transportation through Green Mountain Transit, making commuting to and from campus simple and stress free.
On your first day
Welcome to UVM! While you get to meet your new coworkers and learn more about your role, please make sure you complete the following items:
- Attend the Benefits Information Session (every Monday) from 10am-12pm via Teams.
- Login to UVM PeopleSoft > Human Resources to
- Complete your W-4 via the Payroll & Tax tile in PeopleSoft
- Sign up for direct deposit (please contact payroll@uvm.edu with any questions)
- Add or update personal information and emergency contact information
- Complete your New Employee Onboarding Training Module via Brightspace by the end of your first week. This training will be sent and assigned to you via your UVM email.
- I-9 Verification (bring one Document from List A or one from List B combined with one from list C). You can complete this with our central HR office (no appointment needed) or with an HR representative (PDF) in your unit.
- Complete your Benefits Enrollment form in PeopleSoft (PDF)
- Visit the CATCard office for your UVM ID (Bring a form of government issued photo ID); bring phone if setting up digital ID
During your first two weeks
- Apply for an employee parking permit if driving to campus
- Take the required parking permit course
- If desired, request to join the Zone 1 (Green Parking) waitlist (pro tip: join--it's worth the wait)
- Email Permit Course Certificate and Application to parking@uvm.edu
- If hybrid or working remote full-time, submit a Telework Agreement (in PeopleSoft)
- WiFi Setup on phone
- Download Cisco Jabber for taking phone calls on computer
- Set up appropriate Calendar and Viewing Rights
- Take a look at University Administrative Closures and add these dates to your Outlook calendar.
- Review how to Enter/View Time (PeopleSoft, Salaried/Nonexempt); Enter/View Time in PeopleSoft (PDF) (for salaried/exempt positions) or Enter/View Time in Kronos (PDF)
- Email admissions@uvm.edu to join a walking tour of campus led by a student AdvoCat
