The Division of Finance & Administration is committed strongly to diversity, inclusion, and the University's shared values of openness, justice, respect, integrity, innovation, and responsibility. We endeavor to provide a culture and environment that is accessible, inclusive, and supportive of people of varied backgrounds interacting effectively in a climate of mutual respect.

Our Inclusive Excellence Action Plan

The Division of Finance & Administration (DFA) is actively developing a robust 5-year Inclusive Action Plan (pdf) over the course of  3 phases.

Phase 1

We started our process by analyzing data which led to the development of 8 overarching goals within the themes of Recruitment & Retention, Professional Development, and Accessibility.

DFA Themes and Overarching Goals
Recruitment & RetentionProfessional DevelopmentAccessibility
  • Build & maintain an infrastructure that supports diversity & inclusion within the DFA
  • Increase the diversity & overall rates of successful recruitments through effective, deliberate efforts
  • Establish a communication plan to ensure timely, consistent messaging across and within DFA units
  • Provide a supportive culture, and access to continued professional growth opportunities for our employees
  • Establish an accountable program of cultural competency and inclusive excellence
  • Work with campus partners to improve the level of support within the DFA for those whose first language is not English
  • Improve level of ADA compliance on our  websites and other online content
  • Decrease the physical accessibility barriers in our spaces

Phase 2

We are currently in Phase 2 which involves engagement and more data-gathering from all DFA staff on how best to accomplish our goals in the most meaningful way.

Phase 3

The next Phase will include establishing an implementation advisory group that will track our progress and make recommendations as needed to the DFA senior leaders.

Our committees

The success of this ongoing work relies on input and involvement from staff across the division and we are proud to have broad representation on our IE committees that reflects the diversity of DFA. Vice President Richard Cate serves as our sponsor and the DFA Inclusive Excellence work is co-chaired by Rebecca Myer and Cindy Lee.
