Biography
Steve began his career as a fisheries biologist with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. He moved to Virginia in mid-career to earn the Ph.D. and retired as an Associate Professor Emeritus in Virginia Tech's Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation. During his 27 years at Virginia Tech, Steve focused on human dimensions of natural resource conservation and got involved in continuing education for natural resource professionals. He remains active in teaching leadership and communication workshops for natural resource professionals. He became an avid birder upon retirement in 2016.
