Project Overview

The annual harvest and stumpage reports provide information on how our forest resources are being utilized. The harvest reports list the volumes of wood harvested each year by volume and county of origin. Saw and veneer logs, pulpwood, whole tree chips, sawmill residues are all recorded as well as the total harvest and log imports and exports by region and species. The stumpage reports provide the cost of sawlogs by species and region in thousand board feet as well as pulpwood and firewood prices expressed in cords and whole tree chip volumes in green tons.

Objectives

The economic value of timber harvests contribute to the overall ecosystem services provided by Vermont forests. These reports can be combined with forest inventory and growth data to understand the relationship between forest productivity and the commercial demand for wood in Vermont.
