Resources to help study for pesticide applicator exams and/or to provide recertification credits for certified pesticide applicators. Presented by University of Vermont Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets.

Vermont Pesticide Safety Education: CORE Manual Review (no credit)

This approximately 2.7 hour course is presented in eight modules that provide a review of CORE manual content required to take the Vermont pesticide applicator certification CORE exam. The modules may be viewed at your own pace and full completion is not required. Once enrolled, you will have FOURTEEN (14) DAYS to complete the review.

  • This course is for anyone wishing a Vermont* pesticide applicator license: nursery employees, landscapers, farmers, agricultural employers (WPS compliance), garden center employees, pest control operators, government or municipal employees, university employees, etc.
  • This course is not intended as a substitute for study of the CORE manual and inserts.
  • This course does not provide recertification credit. Please see related Vermont Pesticide Safety Education course offerings for recertification credits.

*NOTE: Anyone using the Northeast CORE Manual, 3rd Edition, for other state pesticide applicator certification may also use this review.  Vermont-specific laws and regulations do not apply to other state certification; Vermont-specific information may be skipped over in this review. Vermont Pesticide Safety Education: CORE Manual Review, Unit #1 (1 credit)

  • Pest, Pesticides, Pest Management (Chapters 2, 3, 13)
  • Environment, Water, Resistance, Application, Drift (Chapter 10-12, 21, 22)

This approximately 1 hour course is presented in two modules that provide a review of CORE manual content required for Vermont pesticide applicator certification. Each module is accompanied by a quiz that must be completed to receive credit. The modules may be viewed at your own pace. Once enrolled, you will have one year to complete the review.

  • This course is for anyone wishing to retain a Vermont* pesticide applicator license: nursery employees, landscapers, farmers, agricultural employers (WPS compliance), garden center employees, pest control operators, government or municipal employees, university employees, etc.
  • Upon completion, a certificate will be granted to receive one (1) recertification credit. Please save your certificate as record of your attendance in this approved recertification course. Vermont Pesticide Safety Education: Managing Pests While Protecting Pollinators (1 credit)

This approximately 2 hour course is presented in six modules and additional readings that provide a review for commercial growers of pollination, pollinator species, threats to pollinators, pest management overview & terminology, pesticide products overview, application practices to protect pollinators, and communication with the public. The modules are followed by a quiz that must be completed to receive credit. The modules may be viewed at your own pace. Once enrolled, you will have one year to complete the review.

  • This course is for anyone wishing to retain a Vermont* pesticide applicator license: nursery employees, landscapers, farmers, agricultural employers (WPS compliance), garden center employees, pest control operators, government or municipal employees, university employees, etc.
