Burlington--Graduate students interested in applying for a research grant through the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Program have until 5 p.m. ET on April 19 to submit a proposal.

Any graduate student enrolled at an accredited college, university or veterinary school who is proposing to conduct research in one of the New England states, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Washington, D.C. is eligible to apply. Funding is capped at $15,000 with no matching funds required.

The Graduate Student Research Grant Program is seeking proposals for projects that explore one or more of the sustainable agriculture themes of environmental stewardship, farm profitability and quality of life for farmers and the agricultural community. Projects may address, but are not limited to, issues related to cropping systems, pest management, livestock health, social sustainability, soil quality, farm energy production, farmworkers and agricultural labor, urban agriculture and marketing of local food.
