farmworker education hub

Welcome to the UVM Farmworker Education Hub! The Hub is a center of educational opportunities for Vermont’s Spanish-speaking farmworker community, with classes focused on dairy technical training, computers and technology, English language learning, and general education. All classes are online and designed to suit the schedules of farmworkers, with ongoing support available from UVM Extension professionals.

Beginning with live English classes in spring 2023. Full course offerings available in fall 2023.

The Hub’s current course offerings are:

  • English Language classes – This curriculum is geared toward everyday language use in the community and workplace, for beginner and beginner-intermediate English language learners.
  • Dairy Technical Training classes – The ProDairy class series provides certificates in a variety of dairy farming skills and specializations, and is offered in collaboration with Cornell University.
  • Computers & Technology classes – In the future, we will offer computer and technology courses, with a focus on the use of technology on dairy farms.
  • General Education classes – This program supports Mexican nationals who are interested in completing their secondary education (high school), and is offered in collaboration with the Mexican Department of Education.
