Now in its 9th year, this evening of contemporary dance highlights UVM student performers in choreography by dance faculty, composition students, and professional guest dance artists. The show is directed by UVM dance professor Paul Besaw. Technical direction is by Bert Crosby, who also designs lighting and supervises student designers.
Numerous works are set to original music, including two dances with new compositions by faculty members David Feurzeig and Yutaka Kono. This year also features new works by New Hampshire-based dance artist Katherine Ferrier and Vermont's own Chatch Pregger, Artistic Director of the Farm to Ballet Project. Guest student performers from University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), under the direction of Susan Levine Ourada, will join the event: there will also be a new work created and performed by UNL and UVM students who have been working in (long distance) collaboration! Dancing Uphill receives generous production support from the UVM Department of Theatre.
