McKew Devitt teaches all levels of Spanish language courses and many of the survey courses in both Peninsular and Latin American literature. His research focuses on Peninsular Spanish literature of the 20th century, particularly narrative in the post-Civil War period. He has led a service-learning trip to the Dominican Republic in which students built a house for a family, participated in a literacy program and Fútbol para la vida activities, and traveled to different parts of the country. He has also led group trips on the Camino de Santiago from León to Santiago de Compostela, a 300 km hike through historic and natural landscapes.
