What work looks like: “I represent a trio of lifestyle publications that cover dining, drinking, and travel. I build brand strategy, work with the editorial team to develop ideas into fully fledged concepts, and oversee revenue-generating relationships with clients and partners.”
What she loves about it: “I love being involved in the food and beverage community and network of hospitality professionals. In 2023, we launched a trade platform called Pre Shift, which covers the industry with stories for the trade as told by members of the trade community. Nearly 70 percent of restaurants and bars in the U.S. are independently owned, and we cover the issues and challenges they face through reporting, events, and a social video program.”
What she gained from a liberal arts education: “Joining the Lawrence Debate Union transformed me from a passive learner into an engaged student. Being a strong, organized, and confident communicator has been the single most important professional asset in my career. I use skills I learned in debate to improve every facet of my work, from writing marketing copy to delivering client presentations. In our world, the ability to engage in critical thinking and discourse are essential skills to navigate both professional and personal life. The liberal arts are rooted in a curiosity about the world, and UVM started me on a journey that will last a lifetime.”
