BIO

Holly Painter is the Director of the Center for Research on Vermont, and a senior lecturer in the Department of English. Since joining the UVM faculty in 2016, Holly has taught courses in writing, literature, and oral history in programs across UVM including the Patrick Leahy Honors College, the Arts and Creativity Learning Community, the Liberal Arts Scholars Program, and the Liberal Arts in Prison Program. She was awarded the 2020 Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award.

Holly has also served as the Interim Coordinator of the Graduate Writing Center and the Interim Director of the Undergraduate Writing Center. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at the South Burlington Public Library.

Holly is the author of four volumes of poetry and is currently working on an oral history project on obsolete occupations.
