Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Sciences

In the Spring of 2015, Gabby was an undergraduate research assistant for former PhD candidate Dr. Sarah Amin in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences.  Her research investigated the use of peer mentors in a local pre-school classroom to increase fruit and vegetable consumption at snack time.  In the Summer of 2015 Gabby served as the Market Education Intern at the Five Corners Farmers Market, where she developed weekly activities to promote produce consumption among children ages 5-12.  Gabby is now a Teaching Assistant for Dr. Farryl Bertmann in the class NFS262: Community Nutrition.  In her spare time, she is a Youth Fitness and Nutrition Instructor within the Burlington School District where she works with 2nd and 3rd graders to develop activities that encourage healthy and active lifestyles among school-aged youth.
