BIO
Renée Reizman is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, educator, and designer whose work centers on community storytelling, public engagement, and social change. Joining the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) in Fall 2026, she brings extensive experience teaching communication design and social practice while helping students explore how design can strengthen communities, communicate complex ideas, and address real-world challenges. Her work emphasizes research, collaboration, accessibility, and civic engagement, encouraging students to use creative practice as a tool for positive community impact.
Renée is the founder of Disability Drawing Club and has led workshops, (remove: residencies) and community-based initiatives with organizations including the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Canyonlands Solid Waste Authority, the Blue Sky Center, Franconia Sculpture Park, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Her artwork has been exhibited across the United States and Canada, and her writing has appeared in publications including The Guardian, The Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, New York Magazine, and Hyperallergic, where she is a Contributor. She holds an MFA in Art: Critical and Curatorial Studies from the University of California, Irvine, and a bachelor's degree in Film and Television from Syracuse University.
