UVM Simon Family Scholarship

Are you an incoming out-of state, first-year student in UVM's College of Arts & Sciences? If you're passionate about academics, leadership, and community service - and have financial need - the Simon Family Scholarship could help make your UVM experience even more affordable.

What is the Simon Family Scholarship?

  • Award Amount: $25,000 per year
  • Duration: Renewable for up to 4 years (as long as renewal criteria are met)
  • This scholarship is in addition to any UVM merit scholarship you've already received

Eligibility Requirements

Body

To apply, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Out-of-state resident
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Incoming first-time, first-year college student for the Fall 2026 Semester
  • Admitted to UVM's College of Arts & Sciences
  • Record of community service and leadership
  • Record of academic excellence
  • Financial need as demonstrated from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Application Deadline

Application Deadline: January 25, 2026 (including FAFSA submission)
Applications and FAFSA must be submitted by midnight

 

Is the scholarship renewable?

Body

To renew, you must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA at UVM
  • Stay enrolled full-time in the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Continue active leadership and community service

How to apply

Body
  1. Find your UVM NetID on your Applicant Status Portal
  2. Activate your UVM NetID
  3. Using your NetID and password you set up in #2, log in to the UVM Scholarship Portal
  4. Complete and submit the UVM Simon Family Scholarship application by midnight on January 25, 2026
  5. Submit your 2026-2027 FAFSA at studentaid.gov by midnight on January 25, 2026
