Start with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA is used to apply for federal student aid, including grants, loans, and work-study funds. At UVM, it is also used to determine your eligibility for need-based institutional need-based grant, scholarship, and loan aid.

Spring Applicants

Deadline:
File when you apply to UVM. While there is no specific deadline for the spring semester, we recommend that you submit your FAFSA for the current year as soon as you apply to UVM.

Fall Undergraduate First-Year Applicants (Early Action, Early Decision, & Regular Notification)

Deadline:
For an on-time aid offer and to ensure consideration for all available sources of financial aid, plan to file your FAFSA in January, through February.

Fall Undergraduate Transfer Applicants

Deadline:
For an on-time aid offer and to ensure consideration for all available sources of financial aid, plan to file your FAFSA in January, through February.

Current & Returning Undergraduate Students

Deadline:
March 1

We recommend completing your FAFSA for the upcoming year in January, through February. File by March 1 to ensure your access to the most available funding and an on-time aid offer for the upcoming academic year.

Graduate, Non-Degree, & Medical School Students

Deadline:
While there is no specific deadline for filing, we recommend completing your FAFSA for the upcoming year in January, through February, in order to receive an on-time aid offer.
