COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT

The Committee on the Environment is mainly focused on all things sustainability and the environment! We primarily run on individual projects that each senator on CoE takes charge of. In addition to these projects, we have yearly responsibilities such as purchasing carbon offsets for the Davis Center and UVM clubs. We also help plan Earth Week!

What are we working on?

CSP Working Group

One representative from CoE will be a part of the new Comprehensive Sustainability Plan Working Group to work with administrators and other stakeholders to develop UVM’s Comprehensive Sustainability Plan.

Earth Week

One senator is working on planning Earth week which is April 16-22. They are looking for guest speakers, preparing workshops, figuring out how to allocate money, and figuring out ways to decorate the Davis Center.

Carbon Offsetting

COE will continue working with Native Energy to offset all carbon emissions from SGA related activities in the four scopes of travel, waste, energy, and shipping as a part of the Carbon Neutral Initiative (CNI) that was started in 2016.

Compost

We have secured funding to provide a compost collection service to 86 off-campus Burlington student addresses this coming Fall, keep your eyes and ears open for the sign up form later this semester!
