Starting in fall 2027, new first-year and transfer students from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island can qualify for reduced UVM tuition in more than 30 majors focused on education, the environment, agriculture, life sciences, and community impact.
The expanded Regional Tuition Break program makes a UVM education more affordable for students across the Northeast while preparing the next generation of leaders, educators, scientists, and changemakers.
Eligible students can receive a significant tuition discount when enrolled in qualifying majors.

Beginning with students entering in fall 2027, UVM is expanding its Regional Tuition Break program to include:
31 qualifying majors
Five neighboring states
Programs in:
- College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)
- College of Education and Social Services (CESS)
- Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (RSENR)
The expanded program reflects UVM's commitment to making a high-quality public education more accessible to students throughout the region while supporting fields that strengthen communities and address real-world challenges.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for the Regional Tuition Break if you:
Are a permanent resident of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island
Enroll at UVM as a first-year or transfer student beginning in the 2027-28 academic year
Declare and remain enrolled in an eligible major in one of the participating colleges (CALS, CESS, or RSENR)
