Dear Fellow Members of the UVM Community,
Solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community is part of who we are at UVM and is especially important in this time of escalated rhetoric and senseless violence. We are heartened by voices in our community who are clear in their condemnation of violence against members of the trans community; and we are inspired by the many trans faculty, staff, and students whose identities and contributions deeply enrich and enliven UVM. At UVM, we aspire to live out Our Common Ground values every day, and we work to make our campus a safe and supportive environment for our trans-identified students and colleagues.
UVM offers many forms of support for those who are impacted by gender-based violence. Among them are HopeWorks, CAPS, and the Prism Center. If you or someone you care about would benefit from support, please make a connection; the staff who engage in this work are skilled and caring, and here for our community.
In the UVM community, everyone belongs. Please continue to support each other and reach out to those around you who may be in distress. Your words of support and affirmation are meaningful, and more important than ever.
Sincerely,
Patricia A. Prelock, Provost and Senior Vice President
Erica Caloiero, Vice Provost for Student Affairs
