Awarding honorary degrees is an important and traditional university practice. Today we are initiating our selection process for individuals to be recognized with honorary degrees at our May 2023 Commencement ceremony.

Members of the UVM community are invited to submit nominations of potential honorary degree recipients and persons to be considered to deliver the Commencement address.

Honorary Degree nominations may be submitted by visiting this webpage. In addition to important information and a form for submitting a nomination, this page contains the criteria considered in reviewing nominations and conferring an honorary degree. A list of previous honorary degree recipients is available here, for your information.

The deadline for nominations for Commencement 2023 is Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
