Dear Staff and Faculty,

As we settle into a new academic year after a prolonged period of distancing and uncertainty, it is more important than ever that we focus on the wellbeing of all University of Vermont employees. For many of us, the last 18 months has had an impact on our physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing. That's why I am pleased to announce and support Open Source Wellness at UVM, a welcoming and fun health and wellness coaching program for UVM and UVM Medical Center employees.

This 12-week program is based on the Open Source Wellness model, which supports participants in addressing health and wellbeing goals that matter to them. With a focus on physical activity, nutritious food, stress reduction, and social support, participants are supported by an integrative health and wellness coach to create sustained changes in their physical, psychological, and social wellbeing. The emphasis is on connection, authenticity, and fun. Simply put, "community is medicine!"

Participants meet virtually on Tuesdays from 12:00-1:00 pm beginning September 14 with rolling registration after that date. Each meeting includes accessible physical activity, stress reduction, interactive education, and small group coaching. There is a nominal fee to participate, and employees who complete the program receive a gift card that reimburses the fee. Participation in this program is a direct investment in our collective wellbeing and resilience, and I encourage supervisors to support employee attendance.

To learn more about the program and determine whether it's right for you, please visit our website and submit a group health and wellness coaching inquiry form. A health and wellness coach will contact you to describe the program and answer your questions.

As always, thank you for all that you do for UVM.

Sincerely,

Patricia A. Prelock
Provost and Senior Vice President
