Welcome to the Graduate Public Health Program
Welcome to the UVM Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine Graduate Public Health Program!
Public health professionals work in local communities, healthcare settings, state, national, and global settings, using a foundation of science to improve the health of people and entire populations. In its broadest sense, public health is what we do – together – to prevent disease and assure conditions supporting health. Responding to emergencies, identifying new infectious threats, preventing chronic diseases, linking people to healthcare and social services, and protecting our environment are all examples.
Our mission is to prepare skilled and versatile graduates dedicated to improving public health through practice, research, education, and leadership. We value innovation in education, evidence-based public health, collaborative partnerships, inclusive excellence, and a culture of lifelong learning. Faculty conduct research impacting people and policy in health systems and rural health, chronic diseases, and environmental, global, and planetary health.
Public health is data driven, inquiry focused, forward thinking, and action oriented. Through a range of programs at graduate levels, including master’s and graduate certificates, the Larner College of Medicine Graduate Public Health Program engages students in solving the most pressing and challenging health needs in society.
We invite you to join us, as we create the changes needed for a healthy society, by educating the next generation of public health leaders, teachers, scientists, and practitioners.
