The Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) Program is accepting nominations for the 2027-28 cohorts. The Larner College of Medicine and the UVMHNMG will support one highly qualified faculty nomination to the competitive selection process.

Who Should Apply

Body

Candidates should be seven years out of training, with an MD or MD-equivalent degree, with:

  • Program-level leadership
  • Institutional level responsibilities (operational or strategic management)
  • Aspirations to executive-level health system roles (executive leadership, chief medical officer, chief quality officer)

Program Objectives

Body

Upon graduation from ELH fellows will be able to:

  • Use strategic approaches to financial and resource management that enhance the missions of their organizations.
  • Enhance their leadership behaviors to effectively address strategic, operational and relational challenges.
  • Lead and manage change initiatives within complex and dynamic organizations.
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in order to build a community of leadership practice that supports personal, professional and organizational effectiveness.

Institutional Nomination Process

  • The Larner College of Medicine will nominate one faculty member for sponsorship
  • Interested candidates must apply internally to be considered for nomination
  • Final participation depends on both institutional selection and acceptance into the ELH program

Applicants must submit the following via this form:

  • A 2-3-page letter of interest 
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV)

Applications are reviewed by an internal committee for faculty qualifications, leadership potential, and alignment with program goals.

  • Internal application deadline: August 14
  • Internal selection notification: Late August
  • Program dates: June 2027 - March 2028

Selected candidate(s) will be notified by the Office of Intercultural Excellence and will receive guidance regarding how to proceed with their ELH application.
