Abstracts, Poster Presentations and Pitch Competition

Information for participating Junior Investigators and Trainees.

Outstanding Abstract Achievement Presentation Awards will be given to Junior Investigators and Trainees whose abstracts are selected through a blinded review process. The top abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at the conference. Two of the trainee awards will specifically be allotted to support participation of women, minorities and/or those with disability. These oral presentation awards will cover the conference registration fee.

The abstract submission deadline is April 21, 2025.

In addition to oral presentation awards, competitively selected research posters will be judged during the conference in Poster Presentation Sessions. Awards will be given to the top poster presentation in each session.

Elevator Pitch Competition

Body

We will once again be offering Junior Investigators and Trainees the opportunity to participate in an elevator pitch "Minute to win it" competition. This competition is for a one-minute synopsis of their research. The top two elevator pitches received awards!

Whether you are applying for funding, telling a family member about your research or engaging the public, your success will depend on how well you communicate. We are offering all junior poster presenters the opportunity to practice and at the same time compete for a prize.

Participation in the pitch competition is limited to poster presenters who are Junior Investigators or Trainees that have not already received an oral presentation award.

All posters accepted for presentation will be invited to participate in our "Minute to Win It" flash poster session which once again promises to be the highlight of the conference!

A flash poster session is a challenge to present the overview of your research in a short and sharp 1-minute pitch. You will have one slide only to convey your message and it is an opportunity to be creative and innovative to entice the audience to find you during a poster session later in the conference. Effective flash talks are clear, concise and captivating.

Download the "Minute to Win It Guide 2025" for more details.

There will be two thematic poster sessions in the afternoon following the Elevator Pitch Competition.

The deadline for submission of the slide is Friday June 13, 2025, and prior to the conference date you will be invited to attend a pre-conference online workshop for developing an elevator pitch presentation.
