License Requirements

The Vermont Board of Medical Practice’s CMIE rules for re-licensure include a general requirement for 30 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM during each licensure cycle. 

This includes a minimum of one credit for hospice, palliative care, and pain management, as well as a minimum of two credits for prescribing controlled substances (required only for licensees who have or have applied for DEA registration).

Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act

Body

The MATE act took effect in June 2023. This act requires new or renewing DEA licensees to have completed a total of at least eight hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders and the appropriate treatment of pain.

Advanced Management of Opioids
