Lock In

Body

Brick is built on solid behavior change science, designed as a “commitment device” (Milkman, 2021). Rather than relying on willpower in the moment, it creates just enough friction between you and your phone to make it easier for your brain to let go of the distraction and lock-in to the moment.

At UVM, we are making that commitment device easier to access, by strategically placing them across campus so that they are accessible in a variety of campus environments.

Why we chose Brick

Body

There are lots of tools for helping people cultivate a different relationship with their tech. Different things work for different people. Brick was founded by college students who weren’t satisfied with the solutions available to them. We encourage our UVM community to try it out and see what they think.
