Why do I need to enter my insurance information?
Your insurance will cover the expense of your vaccines.
Insurance coverage and charges for students
If you get vaccinated at a walk-in clinic or at Student Health Services, it is covered by most insurances via a reimbursement process.
You may want to check with your insurance provider to make sure that it will reimburse for your vaccine through UVM. You do not need to provide insurance information when you get your vaccine, but a $21 charge will be posted to your student account and you will be given a receipt to submit for insurance reimbursement.
Who are these clinics for?
The primary goal of these clinics is to offer convenient access to preventative health measures to protect our Students & Employees during flu season. Each person receiving a vaccine requires their own appointment.
What type of Flu Vaccine is being administered?
The flu vaccine that is provided at the clinics is a trivalent vaccine. This is the typical annual flu vaccine that carries 3 strains of the flu virus (2 type A and 1 type B).
Note that the flu shot will change from year to year so that it is most effective against currently circulating influenza strains.
Is there also a Covid Vaccine?
Yes. Both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will be offered.
The FDA has recently updated their guidelines for the 2025-2026 COVID 19 vaccine. "The 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccines are indicated for people ages 65 and older, and those under 65 years of age at increased risk for severe COVID-19."
The CDC is updating guidelines. Go here for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/covid/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html
Can I receive multiple vaccinations at one time?
Yes. Scientific data show that getting several vaccines at the same time does not cause any chronic health problems. Delaying vaccination only delays protection against disease.
Do I need to make an appointment?
We highly encourage everyone to make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome. Please note that those with appointments will be prioritized.
How can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
When you make your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. Via this email you will be able to cancel or reschedule the appointment.
Where will my appointment be?
All vaccine clinics will take place on the 1st floor of the Davis Center at the Center for Health and Wellbeing Rest Stop (formerly known as Living Well) for all students, faculty, & staff.
Please note that the 10/13 clinic is for Faculty & Staff only on the 4th floor of the Davis Center during the Benefits and Wellness Fair.
What insurance companies are accepted?
Shaw’s accepts nearly all major commercial and government sponsored insurance plans. For anyone who is uninsured or not covered, Shaw’s offers competitively reduced vaccine pricing that can be paid at the time of the appointment.
How can I get a record of my vaccines after the clinic?
Patients can access or request immunization records via the state immunization registry. Upon request, a physical or digital record can also be provided by Shaw’s. Request RecordsMore questions or need assistance?

Center for Health and Wellbeing offers student vaccine clinics each semester. Students may also get vaccinated when visiting Student Health Services for another appointment or get vaccinated at pharmacies in the community.
Four Good Reasons to Get the Flu Shot
- It works. The flu vaccine keeps people healthy and lessens the severity of flu symptoms if you do get sick. Getting it can reduce the risk of having to go to the doctor with the flu by 40-60%!
- It protects you and your community. When the majority of a community gets the flu vaccine everyone wins—more people are protected because of herd immunity and fewer people get or pass on the virus. You can feel good knowing that you are protecting the people around you who are more vulnerable.
- It's safe. The flu vaccine is non-toxic and designed to keep you safe and your community healthy. The influenza vaccine used at UVM does not contain any forms of mercury.
- You won't miss out on life by getting sick. You might feel a little sore or under the weather after getting vaccinated, but you can't get the flu from it. Feeling sore for a little while is better than missing out any Vermont fall or winter adventures or getting behind on classes because you’re sick with the flu.
