Dr. Jill Stockwell leads the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs within the UVM Graduate College, serving as the primary advocate and a resource for postdoctoral scholars, faculty mentors, and administrators. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and Dean of the Graduate College, Dr. Holger Hoock, Dr. Stockwell oversees orientation and professional development initiatives and acts as the liaison to the Postdoctoral Association. 

Postdoctoral Scholar: Definition

We define a postdoctoral scholar, per the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA), as “an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of [their] choosing.”
