Welcome to the Fleming Museum of Art at the University of Vermont. Below is important information to help you plan your visit including our gallery hours, accessibility information, and museum guidelines.

The Fleming generally follows UVM's academic calendar, and is open to visitors and the UVM community from September to May, Tuesdays through Saturdays. Please note the known UVM and holiday closures below, and be aware that unscheduled closures (due to weather or other circumstances) may occur, check this page before your visit or contact us for more information: fleming@uvm.edu or (802) 656-0750

Please note that the Museum will be closed on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, 2025 for UVM Fall Recess. 

Galleries are open: 

  • Tuesday, 10am - 4pm
  • Wednesday, 10am - 7pm
  • Thursday, 10am - 4pm
  • Friday, 10am - 4pm
  • Saturday, 12pm - 4pm
  • Closed Sunday and Monday

 

Please note the following planned 25-26 Museum closures: 

  • October 10 and 11, 2025; Closed for UVM Fall Recess
  • November 25 - 29, 2025; Closed for Thanksgiving Recess
  • December 7, 2025 - February 2, 2026; Closed for UVM Winter Recess
  • Anticipated Spring closures, dates TDB: Closed for Spring Recess and UVM SpringFest
  • Starting May 17, 2026 - September, 2026: Closed for UVM Summer Recess

Information on Directions & Parking

Admission

Free admission to the museum and all events is generously provided by our community of supporters. If you would like to contribute, a suggested donation of $5 is deeply appreciated and goes towards free admission for all, new exhibitions and events, and the ongoing care of our growing collections. Donations can be given online (with a credit card, Venmo, or Paypal) or with cash via our donation display located next to the Welcome Desk.

Reservations are not required during our regular visiting hours for individuals or small groups. For larger groups (more than 8) please fill out our Group Visit Form and one of our staff members will reach out to confirm your visit.

Museum Accessibility

Body

Wheelchair Accessibility: Both entrances are wheelchair accessible and there is an elevator within the Museum that provides access to all galleries and areas open to the public. We also have a wheelchair onsite for visitor use.

Color Blind Eyewear: We are happy to provide Museum guests with a pair of Color Blind glasses to borrow for their visit. Please let a Visitor Services attendant know you'd like a pair when you check in. 

Additional Needs: If you have questions about additional accessibility for your visit, such as an ASL interpreter, access to quiet spaces, etc., please contact the Museum at 802-656-0750 and we will work with you directly. 

Accessibility Parking: Any vehicle displaying a valid accessible placard/license plate may park in a space posted as an accessible space, regular space, or pay-by-app space (without payment). This does not include spaces posted as reserved for specific permit numbers or permit types, electric vehicle charging stations, or spaces reserved by cones or barricades.

Please follow these guidelines to ensure the collective safety and enjoyment of our visitors and works on view.

Awareness

Take care when in the galleries and check your surroundings. Note that not all art or objects are protected by glass or partitions. Please do not touch, sit on, or crowd any displayed artworks during your visit.

Yes, please do!

  • Take pictures and video (Personal photography is allowed in all galleries)
  • Share your experience on social media and tag us @flemingmuseumofart
  • Sketch in the galleries (pencil only please)
  • Enjoy the art—curiosity is highly encouraged, start up a conversation, have fun!

No, please do not...

The following items are not allowed in the galleries:

  • Backpacks or oversized objects
  • Food, beverages, or water bottles
  • Pens, ink, paint, or other permanent writing utensils or art materials
  • Tripods or bulky camera equipment (Commercial and/or professional photography is not allowed)

Open storage is available in the lobby. Guests should not leave valuables unattended.

Please be aware that security cameras are in use and photography, audio, and video recording may occur in the museum during your visit. By entering, you consent to such recording media and its release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction for educational, promotional, or security purposes.
