BIO

Here at the Fleming, I get to tell the incredible story of transformation that's unfolding in our galleries, hype up my extremely talented colleagues, and be surrounded by art and human creativity on a daily basis. As a "jane-of-all-trades" communicator, I'm the graphic designer, the digital marketing strategist, the press contact, website updater, social media manager, and more.

Practically speaking, that includes everything from writing articles and email updates to growing our online presence to designing fun stickers and posters for visitors to grab on their way out. I also support our exhibits and events teams, handle advertising, manage our annual fundraising campaigns, and collaborate with my colleagues in the School of the Arts, College of Arts and Sciences, and Strategic Communications on UVM-wide initiatives.

Before joining the Fleming, I worked in content and creative communications for about ten years with both independent clients and in higher education at LMU's School of Film and Television, Otis College of Art and Design, and UCLA. However, the Fleming isn't technically my first museum gig, I was an education associate at the Old State House Museum in Boston right after I graduated from Emerson College with a B.A. in Visual and Media Arts.

Rachel's Staff Pick

Rachel's Staff Pick

An inky blue and black portrait of dancer Isadora Duncan, 1909.

This inky portrait is among the latest works on paper from our collections to be rotated into the galleries. As soon as I saw it on the wall, I loved it. I love the movement of it, the joy—I love that the dancer is barefoot! Only after I chose it did I discover it's a portrait of pioneering American dancer and choreographer Isadora Duncan, or the "Mother of Modern Dance." Now, when I look at it, I imagine the revolutionary performer dancing with the kind of ecstatic freedom that inspired so many, including Walkowitz.

Abraham Walkowitz (United States 1880 - 1965) Isadora Duncan, 1909. Ink and ink wash on paper. Museum Purchase 1962.35
