The Office of Compliance and Privacy Services supports the visions, goals and aims of the University of Vermont through working in partnership with University and Academic leadership to exercise due diligence to prevent and detect criminal conduct and to otherwise promote an institutional culture that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with the law.
The Office of Compliance Services strives to advance the ethical values as expressed in "Our Common Ground" and to promote conduct that assists the University in meeting its legal obligations.
The Privacy Program champions privacy across the University and promotes UVM’s commitment to safeguarding the personal, protected, sensitive and confidential data that we hold, access and use. Under UVM’s Privacy Program, the office also oversees the University’s response to Public Records Requests and UVM’s Records Retention Policy and schedule.
Enterprise Risk Management
The Enterprise Risk Management Program is designed to enhance the University’s ability to achieve its mission, vision, and strategic objectives and strengthen its competitive position by fostering an institution-wide culture of risk and opportunity awareness while also providing a structured, consistent, and continuous process for the early and proactive identification and reporting of material risks and opportunities to senior management and trustees.
The Office provides a central, definitive source of all University Policies, University Operating Procedures and Guidelines. The Office strives to simplify the understanding of the many external laws, regulations and University Policies, UOPs and Guidelines that members of the UVM community need to know in order to make good decisions.
Conflicts of Interest
The Office serves as a resource for covered persons and for reviewers as it relates to the University’s Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment Policy.
