Yoga is an ancient Himalayan practice now practiced by over 10 million Americans. In this experiential presentation, learn how yoga has been integrated into Western healthcare, how it fits into the biopsychosocial model of healthcare to treat the whole patient, how to differentiate among different styles of yoga, and the benefits and drawbacks of each. We will explore how the components of a yoga therapy session can enhance patient outcomes in a variety of settings, and what researchers are discovering about its effects on the body. Here, you can experience accessible yogic techniques including breath work, meditation and systematic relaxation.
