BIO

Kyra Miller is a Brooklyn-born-and-raised actor, singer and writer; she is also a certified instructor of the Alexander technique. She is excited to be joining the acting faculty this semester at UVM.

A former dancer, she has spent much of her teaching life integrating somatic practice with acting. Previously, she has taught in theater departments at Tulane University, the American Academy of Dramatic Art, Montclair State, and the University of Washington. Her work as an actor has spanned devised work, musicals, Shakespeare, and everything in between.

Professional credits include roles at Theatreworks Silicon Valley, Seattle Repertory, the Fifth Avenue Theater, American Conservatory Theater, Westport Country Playhouse, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Southern Rep, Portland Stage, and the Philadelphia Theatre Company. In New York she has performed at the Pearl Theater and with the Woodshed Collective.

She has performed her own writing all over New York, at HERE, 100 Grand, the Cornelia Street Café, Pangea, the Bushwick Star, the Bell House, the Irondale Center, and at Joe’s Pub. Her puppet film, BlueBeardGasLight, is a recent grant-ee of the Vermont Arts Council and the Puppeteers of America.

Member of AEA since 2002, and of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers (2018). AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher (2016). MFA in Acting from the University of Washington (2003). More at kyramillernyc.com.
