Preident Daniel Fogel and Provost and Senior Vice President Jane Knodell are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joel Goldberg as interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He begins his work as interim Dean today, marking a seamless transition with outgoing Dean Eleanor Miller, who has held the position for the past five years. Goldberg will serve in the interim position until a new dean is in place. A search is scheduled to begin in February.
Dr. Goldberg, Associate Professor of Chemistry, joined the UVM faculty in 1982, following completion of his doctoral degree in analytical chemistry at the University of Michigan. He has served the University of Vermont in a number of capacities, including service as co-coordinator of the Environmental Sciences Program and as Associate Dean in the College. Dr. Goldberg’s experience in the College has been comprehensive in scope and of exemplary quality. The President and Provost are confident that he will bring effective leadership to the College, that he will maintain the momentum established for the College under Dean Miller’s leadership, and that he will be a strong contributor to the advance of University strategic initiatives.
