Fall on campus

A minor offers multiple options to gain a strong grounding in a particular facet of your studies. The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences offers four minors, which complement diverse majors across campus including natural sciences, engineering, and humanities. 

Ecological Agriculture  

This minor is designed to give students a knowledge-based concentration in diversified agricultural production based on ecological principles and is economically viable, socially acceptable, and minimizes impacts to the environment.

Food Systems  

This interdisciplinary minor in Food Systems gives students the knowledge and skills necessary to understand our complex interdependent food system of food production, processing, distribution and consumption.

Soil Science  

This minor is designed to give students a knowledge-based concentration in soil science that will be recognized by those looking to hire agricultural and natural resource professionals with soil science prominent in their program of study.

Sustainable Landscape Horticulture

This minor is designed to provide students with a knowledge-based concentration in horticulture based on the application of ecological principles in landscape design and plant sciences.
