Griffin Brown, a Ph.D. student in the University of Vermont’s (UVM) Sustainable Development Policy, Economics and Governance (SDPEG) program, has been selected to serve as the graduate student representative on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Board of Advisors.
Brown was elected by CALS graduate students following a recent vote, earning the most votes among candidates for the representative position. In this role, Brown will bring graduate student perspectives to conversations about the college’s priorities, direction, and future.
“Graduate students are vital to the diverse span of research, teaching, and outreach that CALS has to offer, so I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring that perspective into conversations about where the college is heading,” Brown said. “Through this role, I hope to help open doors for graduate students, while strengthening the connections between CALS research and the communities it serves.”
As a research assistant at UVM’s Transportation Research Center and the Food Systems Research Institute, Brown’s work connects with the university’s broader commitment to research that addresses real-world challenges. Brown’s participation on the Board of Advisors will provide an opportunity to help ensure graduate student experiences and priorities are part of discussions about the college’s future.
The CALS Board of Advisors brings perspectives from across its community to inform the college’s work and strategic direction. Brown’s selection reflects the importance of graduate student engagement in shaping the academic, research, and outreach opportunities available throughout CALS.
