The Honors College at UVM

UVM's Honors College attracts outstanding students in a learning-residency environment. Special events and outings offer a range of opportunities that are top-notch, enhancing and shaping the Honors College experience.

A Welcome from Our Dean

Since 2004, we have become a thriving young institution at UVM. We are the first residential college at the university, occupying a new facility in the North Complex of University Heights. Honors College students have begun to set and reinforce a tone for an exciting, broad-minded, engaging, and responsible academic life at UVM, and will, I am sure, continue to do so.

Please browse through this website and learn more about our courses and requirements, faculty, special opportunities, admissions policies, and more. Visitors are welcome to check our calendar of upcoming events, which we hope will attract audiences beyond the Honors College membership.

Sincerely,
S. Abu Turab Rizvi
Professor of Economics, Interim Dean

Because of its talented students, the Honors College has become a vital presence at UVM. Some of our successes:
  • Fall 2004: Inaugural first-year class
  • Fall 2007: The Honors College (HC) reached its capacity of about 650 students
  • May 2007: Bevin Cohen graduated, having completed all Honors College requirements one year early
  • Spring 2008: HC will graduate our first full class of scholars
