Alexander Yin

Dr. Alexander (Alex) Yin has expertise and experience in leading and supporting university-wide efforts including General Education assessment, improving retention and graduation rates, decreasing time to degree, and the collection and reporting of post-graduation outcomes, all of which are priority areas for the University of Vermont. He has strong technical and statistical skills; a vision for an adaptable and proactive Office of Institutional Research; and a commitment to producing sustainable, timely, reliable and valid data analysis that creates and promotes a culture of data-driven decision-making.

Before coming to the University of Vermont, Dr. Yin was a Senior Planning and Research Associate in the Department of Planning and Institutional Research at The Pennsylvania State University where he supported the institutional research, planning, and strategic decision-making needs of the institution.

Dr. Yin, a native New Hampshirite, received a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Master of Applied Statistics from The Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
