The Annual Assessment Report (AAR) summarizes progress made on an academic program’s assessment plan, along with reporting any updates and changes. It is required for every non-accredited program (graduate and undergraduate) at UVM. Externally accredited programs (graduate and undergraduate) should submit an updated E1B form instead, in any year in which they receive an updated accreditation letter from their accrediting body. If you are a faculty, program coordinator, or assessment coordinator, please refer to the forms, available workshops, and the list of frequently asked questions, below as you complete your submission. Although the deadline for submission of the Annual Assessment Report is September 30th of each year (or the following Monday if the 30th falls on the weekend), we encourage programs to submit their reports before the end of the academic year.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are annual assessment reports (AARs) due?

AARs are due by September 30th each year. If the 30th falls on a weekend, they can be submitted on the following Monday. However, we strongly encourage all programs to submit their Annual Assessment Report prior to the end of the academic year that the report covers.

Can I get an extension to the deadline?

Assessment is meant to be a flexible process that fits the needs of your program. Please email us with any questions or concerns you have about the deadline for the AAR.

How do I submit my AAR?

Email your completed AAR to us.

I coordinate a program that is externally accredited. Do I need to submit an AAR?

Externally accredited programs (graduate and undergraduate) should email us an updated E1B form each year you receive an updated accreditation letter. For years with no updated letter, please communicate to your unit assessment coordinator and us that there are no updates to your E1B form.

Who should submit the AARs?

Unit Assessment Coordinators or Program Coordinators should submit the reports. In instances where the Unit Assessment Coordinator submits the report, we encourse Program Coordinators to complete the form as they are the experts in assessment for their program.

What resources are available to help me with the AAR process?

We have training videos, workshops, sample reports and print resources posted on this website that can help with AAR preparation and submission. You can also request an individual consultation with the Assessment Coordinator, Richard Cohen, Ph.D., by emailing us. New workshops and training sessions are offered every semester.

What will happen after I submit my AAR?

After you submit your AAR, you will receive a confirmation email. We will then review your submission, provide feedback, and reach out to you to schedule a meeting to review our feedback. Our feedback is designed to help you align your assessment process with best practices.

Who do I contact if I have any questions?

Please contact us via email or Richard Cohen by MS Teams chat message.
