Youth Programs
The Watershed Center's youth programs aim to serve Trinity County through providing hands-on outdoor education, leadership development and economic stature opportunities to local youth. The programs, which are offered free-of-cost to students from 4th grade though high school, range from natural resource training to college preparation to outdoor recreation. The programs are led by Watershed Center staff and local experts.
Indian Valley Summer Camp:
Free for all Trinity County Youth ages 8 thru 14, campers participate in a variety of natural resource, arts & crafts, cultural, and team building activities. Camp runs from June 18th- July 20thOutdoor Adventure Club Live (OACL):
The OACL provides outdoor recreation and education trips to local youth throughout the year free of cost. Some of the activities offered include hiking, snowshoeing, sledding, horseback riding, skiing and rafting.Youth Watershed Restoration Crew:
Each summer The Watershed Center hires eight paid crewmembers to be trained in forest stewardship and restoration. Duties include trails maintenance, fuels reduction and other natural resource restoration work. Crewmembers must be 15-19 years old.College and Culture:
This program provides students and parents with opportunities to visit college campuses and to learn about certificated programs and services available to students such as Fire Science, Nursing, Landscape Design, Welding, Graphic Design, and Emergency Medical Treatment.Town Mentoring:
Started in early 2007, this program couples at-risk high school students with community members in an effort to build a network of positive relationships, offer hands-on job related skills and initiate student interest in future goals.
