BIO

Born in St. Albans, LTC(Ret) Drury grew up in Essex Junction, Vermont. He enlisted in the Vermont Army National Guard as a Medic in 1985 assigned to HHC/3-172 INF (Mountain), commissioning in 1991 as an Infantry 2LT from the University of Vermont’s Reserve Officer Training Corps. LTC(Ret) Drury worked as an Optician Apprentice until 1993 when he was selected for flight school, graduating in 1994 as a UH-1 pilot from Fort Rucker, AL. In 1996, LTC(Ret) Drury assumed command at the start of the Reconnaissance and Interdiction Detachment (RAID), flying the OH-58 in support of federal and local law enforcement agencies with the Counterdrug Program. In 1998, he assumed a simultaneous command of Det 1/E/1-111 Air Traffic Control until 2002.

In 2002, LTC(Ret) Drury activated during Operation Noble Eagle for homeland security, commanding a multi-state aero scout detachment in support of US Border Patrol operations between Canada, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. LTC(Ret) Drury deployed to Afghanistan with Task Force Mountain from Sept 2003 to Sept 2004 as an embedded trainer with the Afghan Army. Upon return, LTC(Ret) Drury assumed command of the 86th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), reorganized and deployed as C/3-126 from September 2005 through October 2006 in Talil, Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. In September 2015, LTC(Ret) Drury assumed battalion command of 86th Troop Command, supporting a unique blend of units including Army Aviation, Public Affairs, Military Police, and the Vermont National Guard Army Band until July of 2017.

Additional positions include Army Aviation Support Facility Maintenance Officer, Counterdrug Coordinator, USPFO-VT Supervisory Logistics Manager, Maintenance Assistance & Instruction Team (MAIT) Leader, Surface Maintenance Manager, 124th Regional Training Institute AO/XO, and Mobilization Readiness Officer.

LTC(Ret) Drury is a graduate of the Colorado High Altitude Training School, Combat Aircrew Survival Instructors Course, Aviation Maintenance Manager’s Course, OH-58 Maintenance Test Pilot Course, Medical Logistics Officer Course, Support Operations Course, and the Army Mountain Warfare School.
