MAJ Anthony Thompson is from Elk River, Minnesota. He enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 2004 prior to entering college. He graduated and commissioned from Michigan Technological University in 2009 into the Ordnance Corps. MAJ Thompson was assigned to 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO. MAJ Thompson’s list of assignments include Support Platoon Leader, Distribution Platoon Leader, Maintenance Control Officer, and Company Executive Officer within the 2nd Special Troops Battalion. After completing Captain’s Career Course, he was assigned to 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg (now Liberty), NC. He served as the Brigade Assistant S4 in the Brigade HQ and Forward Support Company (FSC) Commander in Fox Company, 1-319th Field Artillery. He was then assigned to the Defense Coordinating Element in Denver, CO, supporting FEMA and the US military on natural disaster responses across the nation. Following intermediate level education at the Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Base, AL, MAJ Thompson once again returned to the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO. There he served as the G4 Division Ground Maintenance Manager, Battalion Executive Officer in the 64th BSB, and Brigade S4 in the 3rd Armored BCT.
MAJ Thompson's military education includes Basic Officer Leader Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Air Command and Staff College, Army Mountain Warfare School (Summer Phase), Air Assault, Airborne, Jumpmaster, Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course, Sapper Leader Course, and Ranger School.
