As announced in Inside UVM, Executive Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA), Dr. Jay Garvey, has accepted the position of Interim Associate Dean in UVM’s College of Education and Social Services. A national search for Dr. Garvey’s replacement is underway. The search committee is chaired by Jeralyn Haraldsen, Director of Research Development, Office of the Vice President for Research, and Susan Skalka, Director of Enterprise Application Services, Enterprise Technology Services.
Larry Granillo, the current Associate Director of OIRA, has been appointed Interim Executive Director effective August 1. Larry is a thoughtful and collaborative colleague who is deeply committed to student success. He has played central roles in the design and development of Catamount Data (now Catamount Factbook), promoting a culture of data-informed decision-making at UVM, and building a system of data governance. His strong technical and analytical skills and his deep understanding of higher education and UVM will enable him to play an important leadership role in developing the metrics for the university’s new strategic plan.
