Dear colleagues,
I am writing to inform you that we will be conducting an internal search this spring for the next Dean of the Graduate College. The procedures governing this search are outlined in the University Manual (pdf) (p. 25). Peter Newman, Dean of the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, has agreed to serve as chair of the search committee.
The Graduate College will solicit nominations, followed by elections, for four graduate faculty members to serve on the committee. In addition, the Graduate College will elect one staff member who does not directly report to the dean to serve on the committee, and two graduate student leaders will be selected to represent the student body. I will appoint additional members as needed to ensure appropriate balance and representation on the committee.
Finalists for the position will participate in a comprehensive interview process, including a public town hall that will provide graduate faculty and students the opportunity to hear from the candidates and ask questions.
I expect the search to commence by the end of March and anticipate appointing a new dean with a start date of July 1, 2026.
Sincerely,
Linda Schadler
Interim Provost and Senior Vice President
