Dear Students and Families,

As described in our message to you last Friday, the Board of Trustees Executive Committee unanimously endorsed our recommendation to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of required vaccinations for all students, effective immediately. We are writing to provide further details regarding this requirement.

We are grateful that so many members of the UVM community are doing their part to protect the health and safety of our campus and surrounding community. More than 7,000 students have already provided proof of vaccination through UVM’s student portal. Students who have completed their vaccination should enter their information into the portal by August 1, 2021. Others should immediately start the vaccine protocol and report as soon as they have received their final dose.

Students having difficulty obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine should contact the university immediately by emailing health@uvm.edu. Our medical staff will make arrangements for your vaccination upon arrival in Vermont.

Students who are granted an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement and students who have begun but not completed the vaccination process will be required to follow a strict protocol that includes masking, regular testing and other restrictions on campus. Vaccination is complete two weeks following the final dose.

Students who do not submit required vaccination information will not be eligible to enroll and attend UVM in Fall 2021. This applies to all students in all programs at all levels, excluding those who have been granted an exemption or are in the process of completing their vaccination cycle.
